LaserJet Printers - Communication Error, Line of "Symbols and characters" Print
Problem
When printing from the computer, you receive a line of Symbols and characters or all of the printed output comes out on one line.
Solution
See the following:
- Perform a self-test to be sure that the HP LaserJet printer is functioning properly. If the self-test is not correct, remove all cables and accessories (if any) and print a self-test again. If the self-test is still not correct, service the printer. If the self-test is correct, go to the next step.
- Reseat or replace the cable. Check the cable for bends or pressure applied by objects resting on the cable. A faulty cable or cables that do not meet the IEEE-1284 Standard can cause print defects by distorting signals.
